Originally a fashion series for Bloomingdales NY 1987 honoring a Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) exhibit of fashion and surrealism.
Between 1987 and 1996 Kern made unique covers and section pages for his portfolio books. Techniques included collage, paint, ink, pencil, or pastel on his photographs and found printed matter, and xerographic negatives of images and typography. Many of these unique pages did not return to him as they were collected by his clients. Of the few that remain, Kern scanned the original art.
