Neiman-Marcus 100th Anniversary Pop Up Book   2006

To celebrate the store's 100th Anniversary Neiman-Marcus commissioned Kern to design and photograph a pop up book with seven spreads, each spread highlighting a tradition of the store.  Kern designed an innovative book with complicated unfolding mechanisms, secret compartments, and a hologram.  Many of the elements had to be photographed simultaneously from front and back, including the model, which Kern used lasers to align cameras.  He began sketches of the spreads in 2005 and the book was published in 2007 as a limited edition.
